|The Call of the Wild: the Jack London Story|
Event Type: Big Read|
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 1:45 PM
California based actor/scholar Michael Oakes of Live Oakes Educational Theater will recount the greatest story Jack London ever wrote: his own rags-to riches, adventurous life. From the time he was a child, London toiled as a sweat shop "wage-slave," an oyster pirate, sailor, writer, and rancher. During his 40 short years, he sailed the globe from the Klondike, to the South Seas, from Europe to Asia. He wrote over 50 books, and a thousand essays and short stories. This rebel writer provides insights into the great Labor, Temperance, and Suffrage Movements of his day, which are still relevant today.
